Susan Sturman

 

Susan Sturman was a founding member of the Broadside collective and was in charge of art direction for the publication. She was also Arts Editor and was a contributing writer and illustrator for Broadside. 

She got involved in the paper through activism in the women’s movement, where she met co-founders Eve Zaremba and Susan Cole. In the late seventies and eighties,  Susan also wrote for Fireweed and FUSE Magazine, and she was a guitarist and songwriter with women’s bands Mama Quilla II and demi/monde.

In the nineties, she continued work in the arts, writing and performing music for theatre and film and exhibiting her visual work. She completed her doctorate at the University of Toronto in 2009, investigating women involved in IT/Computer Science.

Susan lives and works in Toronto.
