Jane Hastings

Sometime around 1980 Jane Hastings began spending part of the year in Toronto and was introduced to Broadside through Judith Lawrence. For four years she enjoyed contributing to the paper in various capacities, from writing the occasional article to helping with cutting and pasting, and of course getting those bundles into the mail!   From 1984 to 2008 she split her time between the West Coast and North Carolina and returned to her career in vocational rehabilitation with deaf and hard-of-hearing clients.

She has been retired since 2004 and spends a lot of time involved with amateur music (bassoon) in Victoria, where she has lived for 20 years. Her years with Broadside informed her social consciousness and political awareness. Recently she has had the good fortune to live in Elizabeth May’s riding and work on her successful election campaign.
