Bev Allinson came to Canada from Australia in the sixties and remained an unreconstructed Aussie until her death in 2009.
Trained as a teacher Bev was an instinctive educator, an entertainer and writer of books for children. Two of her titles were: “All BOARD! A cross-Canada adventure” with Barbara O’Kelly and “Effie” with Barbara Reid.
Bev free-lanced in schools and in old-age homes bringing to these stuffy institutions her quirky charm and pungent humor. On the Broadside collective she was notorious for her skeptical take on all politics.
Bev Allinson loved nature, camping, kayaking, her garden and her life-partner Kate Hawkins. She was a good friend. She is much missed.
